Site1: Kabaka monument at Usafi roundabout
At 8:00 am. This will be the starting and meeting point for members who will be involved in the city tour. We shall take Mengo hill road on to Lubiri ring road up to Mengo palace (Bulange).
Site 2: Mengo Palace
At 8:30 am. Have opportunity to reach Kabaka’s palace which is the oldest palace after Rubaga. You will get all the history concerning about the palace and the kings who have ever lived within the palace, you will have a chance of viewing all the monuments in the palace, the ford car for Kabaka Mutesa II and later visit the Amin’s torture chambers.
Site 3: Kabakanjagala road
At 9:00 am. Travel through the Royal mile land which is called Kabakanjagala road. The road is decorated with doted totems monuments for all the Buganda clans, you will get information concerning about all the totems, leaders and physical location of the clan sites. Walking through this road is a gift because you will use the same road which is used by the King himself. This road is a straight path from Bulange Mengo through the Kabaka roundabout up to the palace. The road side are resting points for city dwellers because of its ever-green vegetation (trees).
Site 4: Masengere
At 9:30 am. It’s a building housing the radio stations and the TV station for the kingdom of Buganda. it also houses the parliament of Buganda. Have greater chances of visiting these stations and the parliament.
Site 5: Namirembe cathedral
At 10:30 am. Do know any history about this cathedral or the name of the cathedral? do u know why this cathedral is called Namirembe? Through the city tour, you will get chance of knowing all the history and information concerning the cathedral. Namirembe is the seat for arch bishop of the Anglican Church. Get to know the bishops who have ever lived at this cathedral since it was started.
Site 6: Independence Monument
At 12:00 noon. This monument to Ugandan Independence features a man unwrapping and holding a child touching the sky, it also symbolizes the end of the colonial rule in Uganda. You have greater chances of reaching this monument before other Ugandans who have never been there before.
Site7: Gorilla monument
At 12:20 pm. Uganda has been known to the world as the primate capital. Let’s reassure the world that indeed we are naturally gifted by nature with a pose at the newly unveiled gorilla monument.
Site 8: Impala monument
At 12:30 pm. Did you know that Kampala city delivered its name from the word Impala? Being that Kampala city seats on seven hills, most of these hills were occupied by the impalas and called Akasozi kempala hence the name. It’s a newly formed monument in the city which is not visited by many people, so you have a chance of being the first person to meet the point before others.
Site 9: World war monument
At 12:50 pm. Situated at the constitutional square also known as City Square is Uganda’s oldest monument in memory of the Ugandans who helped the British government during World War I and World War II.
